Is there a generic for clopidogrel ? I have been taking clopidogrel/clopidogrel sodium for several years. It does seem to help with my heartburn, but stomach keeps getting upset like there is a virus and I can feel a pain in my stomach. I also have to keep taking clopidogrel for a few things (which I hate with a passion) like blood pressure, diabetes, anxiety and migraines(?). My doctor says with clopidogrel, I shouldn't get any headaches. The other thing I don't like about clopidogrel is that the side effects tend to be long term. I've had some serious side effects with it including anxiety attacks, muscle spasms and migraines. We recommend a wide range of antibiotics for a variety different conditions, but you can't make choices based on one drug or the other. We'd like to give you some general advice about taking clopidogrel. Clopidogrel generally comes in a tablet form and must be taken with food. The dosage may vary based on your age, but generally, you need to take one tablet daily. If you experience any GI irritation, discontinue the drug for a few days. We don't normally prescribe medication for allergies, but if you have a history of allergies or asthma, you may need to talk your doctor about what medications would help you. Also, some people with these conditions experience nausea when they take certain drugs, so if these problems occur, please talk to your doctor. The FDA has not established a generic version of clopidogrel. We are currently working with a drug company who is working on it.
